Guest blog: Rheumatology follow-ups - Transforming Outpatients
by Amanda Woolley, Policy and Implementation Lead for the Elective Care Transformation Programme at NHS England and NHS Improvement
The NHS Long Term Plan set the ambition to reduce outpatient attendances by a third over the next five years. Rheumatology services are leading the way in developing alternatives to the traditional outpatient model so that patients can access the support and treatment they need, at the time they need it. Most people seen by rheumatology services will have chronic, long term conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and will require continuing specialist input to support management of their condition. …

ARMA event: Physical activity and musculoskeletal health
Do you run a gym, swimming pool or leisure centre? Encourage more of your customers with long term conditions to be more active.
- Do you know how to make your services accessible to people with MSK conditions?
- Are your staff members confident to support someone in pain to exercise?
- Do they understand how being more active benefits people’s mobility and can reduce pain?
If the answer to any of the above is ‘no,’ then you may be turning away valuable customers when you could be helping them to improve their health. This event will help you to change this.
