Orthopaedic Quality Improvement (including Clinical Audit) Network (OQICAN) Learning Forum

The next OQICAN forum takes place on 30 November 2021 from 12pm – 1:30pm and will feature presentations from:

  • Mr Viraj Gandbhir,

    International Training Fellow, Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS FT, who will present on the COVID status of all patients undergoing elective surgery;

  • Dr Rachel Baumber,Consultant Anaesthetics and Intensive Care, Chair Resuscitation Committee and Perioperative Research Lead, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, who will present on six and twelve month quality of life following hip and knee revision arthroplasty;
  • Nicholas Emery, Neuromuscular Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS FT.

Psoriasis Awareness Week 2021

29 October – 4 November 2021

This year’s Psoriasis Awareness Week begins on Friday 29 October (World Psoriasis Day) and runs until Thursday 4 November. The theme for 2021 will focus on lifestyle changes that people who are living with psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis can make to better manage their condition, including diet and exercise.

The Psoriasis Association has lots of exciting plans for the week, including two Facebook Live sessions with experts in nutrition and exercise, and for the first time ever there will be a Psoriasis Awareness Week fundraiser to encourage supporters to get active and raise awareness!…

ARMA joining the BCA Conference 2021 to connect, share and develop

NOA Annual Members’ Conference

The NOA will host its first ever Annual Members’ Conference on 20 October 2021 in Birmingham. The event is free to attend for staff from NOA member organisations and will be an exciting, action packed day including two main lecture theatres as well as an exhibition and research/audit presentation room. Highlights include:

  • Orthopaedic society presidents panel discussion chaired by Mr Peter Kay
  • National Clinical Director for MSK Conditions presentation on promoting life-long musculoskeletal health within all communities
  • CEO of the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance presentation focused on the patients’ perspective
  • Shared stories from Lived Experience Ambassadors
  • Demonstrations of virtual tele-mentoring
  • Sessions around economic and social sustainability within healthcare
  • Presentation on narrowing health inequalities – a legacy from the pandemic
  • Discussions on truly autonomous robotic knee surgery and day case hip and knee surgery
  • A range of presentations from NOA member Trusts sharing best practice and lessons learned

Pain Awareness Europe (PAE), in collaboration with other organisations in Europe, is holding an online event on 7 September, 14:00-15:00 CEST (15:00-16:00 British Summer Time). BOA Annual Congress 2021 general registration now open

The BOA Annual Congress will take place 21-24 September 2021. The Congress programme will be created around the theme of ‘Tackling Infection’, with four days of lectures including three days of exhibition being held for the first time at P&J Live, The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA).
