Do you have chronic pain?
Volunteers are needed to take part in psychological research which aims to help explain distress and disability in chronic pain.
The WITHIN Study is funded by the Medical Research Council and is investigating to what extent mental defeat explains variations in pain severity, distress, and disability in the long term in patients with chronic pain.
If you are interested in taking part in the online questionnaire, complete the screening questionnaire to see if you are eligible. You will not be reimbursed for the screening questionnaire but if you are eligible and complete the main questionnaire you will receive a £5 Amazon voucher per time-point. The questionnaire will be repeated three times over the course of 1-year.
To read the participant information leaflet or to complete the screening questionnaire, please follow this link.
Once your completed screening questionnaire is received you will receive an email from a member of the team that will detail whether you are eligible. If you are eligible, a link to the questionnaire will appear in the email along with further instructions. You can complete the questionnaire immediately or at a time of your choosing. In some cases, please be aware that some extra details may need to be checked before determining your eligibility – in which case the researchers will contact you by email to discuss these further with you. If you complete the main WITHIN questionnaire, you will be reimbursed with a £5 Amazon voucher for each of the three questionnaire time points that you complete (maximum £15 per person for all 3 time-points).
Participants are also being recruited for the Longitudinal Sleep-Tracking Study
As part of the Sleep Tracking Study, which aligns with the questionnaire time points, you will get the opportunity to wear an ActiWatch for a 7–day tracking period, receive a personalised breakdown of your sleep and receive a £10 Amazon voucher. Please note, in order to participate in the Sleep-Tracking Study, you must have completed the main questionnaire first. You can register your interest in the Sleep Tracking Study at the end of the screening questionnaire if this is of interest to you.
