Versus Arthritis is aware that working with arthritis can be challenging, with a disability employment gap of 20% for those living with arthritis compared to those without arthritis.
Versus Arthritis surveys and research in partnership with CMHW offered an insight into what could make a difference to work outcomes for people living with the condition.
As a result of these findings, the information on the work area of the Versus Arthritis website has been updated. This includes key work-related information for people living with arthritis, as well as guidance for employers and workplace professionals.
In addition, with the support of people with arthritis, and an occupational therapist, Versus Arthritis has created a Work Adjustment Plan. This practical resource is solution focused to help anyone who has barriers to work identify what might make a difference to them. The plan provides information to support individuals with arthritis improve their knowledge of their condition and capacity to self-manage their condition in work. It covers: diagnoses, managing treatment, keeping well, workplace rights, Access to work scheme and reasonable adjustments. The plan is available in print and on the Versus Arthritis website.
The aim is to ensure people with arthritis have the information and resources needed to address work-related difficulties they experience.
