NRAS is very excited to announce that their long-awaited SMILE-RA module on the Importance of Physical Activity and Exercise has launched. Learn about the science, the benefits and some of the myths about exercising with rheumatoid arthritis. If you have any difficulty getting motivated and need help to get started, this module is perfect for you.
Hear from internationally renowned experts in this field George Metsios, Professor of Exercise Physiology at Universities of Thessaly (Greece), and Will Gregory, Consultant Physiotherapist at Salford Royal – as well as those living with RA.
Alongside the new SMILE-RA module, there will also be video ‘taster’ sessions of 15 minutes each on the following:
- Importance of Physical Activity and Exercise
- Yoga exercises
- Triupudio Movement Systems exercises
- Tai Chi exercises
- Strengthening resistance exercises
- Movement to Music exercises
All are presented by experts in these fields and are adapted for people with RA and most of the exercises presented can be done seated or standing. So even if you’ve had RA for a long time and find exercise challenging, we can assure you that there is something here for you to try!
