ARMA CEOby Adrian Bradley, CEO ARMA

Firstly, I would like to add my voice to the chorus of appreciation and good wishes for Sue Brown who left the organization recently after eight years of distinguished leadership. I feel extremely fortunate to be inheriting such a strong legacy of relationships, influence and achievements. Sue can be rightly proud of her contribution, and I thank her for her service and her support to me during the handover period.

I also want to thank the Board of Trustees for their confidence in me, and I look forward to working with them to lead ARMA to continued success. Although I am not from the MSK world, I have spent many years representing and supporting a large and diverse nationwide network of charities serving some of the most disadvantaged communities in England and Wales.

I am excited about the opportunities that lie before us. ARMA continues to be a vital force in advancing our shared mission, and I am committed to building on the solid foundations already in place. Collaboration and innovation will be key as we navigate the challenges and possibilities in the months and years to come. I look forward to working with all of you to ensure that ARMA continues to thrive and to make a meaningful impact.

It is early days (I am writing this on my third morning) but I will be meeting many of you in the days and weeks ahead to listen to you and explore your priorities and expectations.

I spent my second day in post at the NHS England 10 Year Plan Partners Council. While the publication date was not revealed, it seems reasonable to expect it in the next few weeks, and I presume before the Parliamentary recess on 22 July. The current draft is being kept under lock and key but the details we do know are compatible with what ARMA has been saying and doing in recent times. There will be an emphasis on personalised care, patient power, tackling health inequalities, devolved decision making and on neighbourhood coordination. My colleague Cathy Monaghan – our Public Affairs and Communications Officer – and I will monitor developments and work with members to interpret and respond to the plan. It is clear that the plan will be radical and ambitious. There will be a call to action to all parties. We must be ready and willing, as an Alliance, to help bring the transformation to life over the next decade.
