New Self-Management Event in Leicester

Arthritis Action in collaboration with CLASH – Community Leicester Arthritis Self-Help group – will be holding a two-day Self-Management Event in Leicester on :-

Wednesday 28th June 2017 at 2.00 pm – 4.30 pm
and
Thursday 29th June 2017 at 10.30am – 1.00 pm

We aim to help our attendees take control of the symptoms of their arthritis, with the event covering topics such as:
  • The impact of physical therapies
  • How you can best manage your pain
  • The benefits of exercise and a healthy diet
  • Ways to work in partnership with healthcare professionals

HUG/ARMA Stoke Meeting

Geoffrey Lawton, Stoke ARMA group chair, invites you to:

PIER showcases good practice to NHS delegation

A group of senior delegates from the NHS Health Literacy Collaborative Group visited the Haywood Hospital in late February to look at the Patient Information and Resource Centre, (PIER) and see what effect its presence has had on the health literacy of patients and carers using the hospital.

Based within the outpatients’ area of the Haywood Hospital, the PIER, which opened in October 2015, provides patients, their families and carers with access to information on arthritis and related conditions. Visitors have access to a range of printed and online material in modern comfortable surroundings.…

As the nights start to draw in it feels like winter is on its way. Last year we experienced one of our busiest ever winter periods and, whilst our staff coped admirably, our services were under huge pressure. This year we would like to help our local community be ‘winter ready’ and to stay as well as possible.

PortsHosp Funky Gloves Day – Department of Rheumatology

The Department of Rheumatology at Portsmouth Hospitals Trust are looking for nimble-fingered knitters to get out the needles and wool and craft us some Funky Gloves. If knitting’s your passion, you could help to create some little amazing funky gloves for our Glove Sale on Wednesday 1st February 2017.

The event will be part of our “Wear your gloves” campaign to raise awareness of Raynauds.

Donations of knitted gloves can be dropped off in the Department of Rheumatology at Queen Alexandra Hospital any time up to the day of the 1st February 2017.…
