Get involved in JIA Awareness Week

JIA logoAfter the success of RA Awareness Week, this year NRAS is having its first JIA Awareness week #SameJIADifferentDay, which will run from the 13 to 17 June 2022.

The staff members at NRAS understand it can be very frustrating for children, young people and even adults with JIA to keep explaining that JIA is a fluctuating condition, and some days are good, and some are bad. No two days are the same living with JIA and you can help raise awareness of this by getting involved:

Leadership award for BCA President

President of the British Chiropractic Association, Catherine Quinn, honoured with a prestigious leadership award

The BCA is delighted to announce to the MSK community that at this year’s Parker Seminars Las Vegas which took place in February, BCA President, Catherine Quinn, was awarded their prestigious ‘Women in Leadership 2022’ Award. The award was presented by Parker University and the World Congress of Women Chiropractors (WCWC) in recognition of Catherine’s strong leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Parker’s President, Dr William Morgan, said Catherine’s leadership has focused on “building bridges, rather than walls”.…

New date for NOA webinar

NOA logoNOA Webinar: Learning from never events and serious incidents (SUIs)

The next National Orthopaedic Alliance (NOA) webinar will take place on 25 May 2022 at 1pm via Zoom. The session will focus on learning from never events and serious incidents.

Note from editor: the representatives from the CQC are no longer able to speak at this event.

Never events and serious incidents are a cause for concern and anxiety when reported in an organisation. They require investigation and official reporting. The end result should be a process of open multidisciplinary analysis and discussion led by the Clinical Governance team that results in learning for the organisation.…

Online Pain Toolkit 5-day workshop

Online Pain Toolkit workshop for UK and English-speaking EU residents
Presented by The Pain Toolkit – the home of supported pain self-management.

Many people may not have access to pain management programmes and so the Pain Toolkit has organised a team of experiences coaches to run a 5-day (2.5hrs a day) workshop. The workshop is open to people living with persistent pain, and open to maximum of 10 participants. Pain Toolkit will be running three workshops during 2022 in Canada and Australia.…

Osteopaths role in MSK Service delivery

Amanda Hensman-Crook, AHP National Clinical Fellow from Health Education England, led a vibrant keynote speech at the recent Institute of Osteopathy Convention. Amanda focused on First Contact MSK roles and the Advanced Practice agenda and how osteopaths are part of the contemporary healthcare environment to support MSK service delivery.

Amanda also briefed about an MSK educational roadmap to Advanced Practice and a ground-breaking collaboration that will create a single set of UK MSK standards that will leave a legacy both nationally and internationally.…
