The RCN Rheumatology forum is proud to present the programme for the March 2021 webinar. Julie Begum, RCN Rheumatology Forum chair will be joined by Professor Sarah Ryan, Kay Hughes and Rachel Cowey. The speakers will be considering three topical issues as they explore biologics, blood test results and the importance of professional development for rheumatology nurses.

By attending this session attendees will be able to:

  • understand the importance of continued professional development to improve professional capabilities and apply theory to clinical practice
  • consider the changing landscape of biologic therapy and the impact of this on medication selection and patient care
  • identify normal values in blood tests used in rheumatology.

BOA Annual Congress 2021 – abstracts now open

Under the theme of ‘Tackling Infection‘, the 2021 BOA Congress will take place 21–24 September 2021 at P&J Live, The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA).

In a slight change from previous years, BOA abstract submissions – including those from medical students – will open and close on the same dates; the BOA is pleased to announce that abstract submissions are now open and will close on Friday 7 May 2021.

BOA Annual Congress 2021 – save the date!

Taking place 21-24 September 2021, the BOA Annual Congress programme will be created around the theme of ‘Tackling Infection‘, with four days of lectures including three days of exhibition being held for the first time at P&J Live, The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA).

MACP AGM 2020 – online

Due to COVID-19 and current restrictions, this year’s Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists AGM will be held virtually via Zoom webinar on Monday 30 November 2020 at 6.30pm.

The AGM provides each member with an opportunity to hear what the MACP has achieved in the last year and what the MACP strategy and objectives are for the coming five years.

Psoriasis Awareness Week 29 Oct – 4 November 2020

This year’s Psoriasis Awareness Week 2020 runs from Thursday 29 October (World Psoriasis Day) to Wednesday 4 November.

This year, the theme will be ‘types of psoriasis’, based around answering some of the ‘unknown knowns’ that came out of the recent Psoriasis Priority Setting Partnership. Over the course of the week, the Psoriasis Association will focus on a different type of psoriasis each day, chosen from those which are most commonly asked about on the helpline. 2020 Backcare Awareness Week Resources

The 2020 Backcare Awareness Week runs from 5-9 October.
The theme for this year’s campaign is Back Pain in Nursing.

The campaign will, with the assistance of BackCare‘s flagship publication Handling of People (HOP6), prevent significant back injuries in the Nursing profession. Many nurses will benefit from training which is provided by the National Back Exchange organisation.

Power to the people: MSK Coproduction Tweet Chat

At 7pm on 21 September 2020, people living with musculoskeletal conditions and healthcare professionals and policy influencers congregated in anticipation of a tweet chat on Twitter – ‘Power to the People.’

The tweet chat encompassed co-production of a new NHS MSK strategy – patients and healthcare professionals improving care together. The discussion for that hour involved 51 people, 279 posts, 1197 engagements. The #MSKCoPro was seen over half a million times by over 100,000 users.
