BCA nominated for two Memcom membership excellence awards

memcom logoThe British Chiropractic Association is delighted to share the news with the MSK community that they have been shortlisted for two Memcom membership excellence awards:

  • Best Member Support during COVID-19 (Small Organisation): BCA Team
  • CEO Leadership Award: Tom Mullarkey, MBE

Both of these awards are in recognition of the outstanding support and direction the team demonstrated over the last 12 months in the face of a global pandemic. The Association worked hard to understand the changing needs of their members, creating resources and adapting services to support them during the crisis and the lasting effects beyond it. This resulted in the BCA’s staff team, alongside the BCA’s Board, taking a diligent approach that has seen member insurance premiums reduced for 2021

By moving the BCA to a ‘lean-running mode’ in 2020, the organisation was able to continue providing essential services, but also pass significant cost savings on to its members. BCA members have told the Association that this reduction in outgoings – at the most critical time of the pandemic – was crucial when incomes had been seriously reduced.

BCA CEO, Tom Mullarkey said: “It is great news that the BCA Team has been shortlisted for this national award – a wonderful surprise for us all.  This reflects the diligence and teamwork of our staff and board, and so many of our members who contributed to the effort, to keep our members, their patients, and families well-briefed and up to date on every aspect of the management of the pandemic. We’re up against stiff competition and it’s a feather in our collective caps that the BCA story is being told in such impressive company”.

The BCA is delighted to be recognised in two categories and would like to give a special mention to their CEO, Tom, who is nominated for Memcom’s most prestigious award.

BCA President, Catherine Quinn said: “On behalf of the Board, I want to convey my absolute delight at the two nominations the British Chiropractic Association have received in light of the work committed to over the past year.

“To see Tom shortlisted for the CEO Leadership Award comes as no surprise to those of us who work with him week in and week out. His commitment to supporting members is second to none, and transformation that he has brought to the BCA since his appointment.

“My sincere congratulations go to the staff team and the BCA board to for the well-deserved recognition of their immense effort resulting in the nomination for Best Member Support during COVID-19. BCA members are so well served and should feel proud of the work done to support them!”

Memcom is an organisation that connects senior leaders from membership bodies, trade associations and the not-for-profit sector (in other words, a ‘hub’ for the organisations that provide hubs for others!).

Award winners are announced on 30 September 2021 and you can see the full shortlist on the Memcom website.
