BOA Annual Congress 2021 – save the date!

Taking place 21-24 September 2021, the BOA Annual Congress programme will be created around the theme of ‘Tackling Infection‘, with four days of lectures including three days of exhibition being held for the first time at P&J Live, The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA).

Further information regarding abstracts, programme, speakers, location and more will be on the BOA website in the upcoming months.

The Campaign for orthopaedics surgery ‘goes’ to Parliament

On Monday 23 November 2020 the campaign to prioritise extra capacity in orthopaedics surgery ‘went’ to Parliament in the form of a roundtable event. The virtual roundtable brought together a wider range of stakeholders including representatives of charities, surgeons, clinicians and industry to make the case in Parliament as to why orthopaedics should be a priority for the NHS over the next few years.

The event was hosted by Dr James Davies MP – a GP, member of the Health and Social Care Select Committee – and a Conservative MP for the Vale of Clwyd in North Wales.…

FCP pilot publishes results

First oF project reaches a successful conclusion

The First Contact Practitioner Osteopath pilot, funded by the Osteopathic Foundation, has published its results with excellent implications for the future of osteopaths in the FCP role.

The report indicates results that demonstrate osteopaths have the skills to make a positive impact in these roles.

Understanding shielding – a briefing for clinicians

MACP AGM 2020 – online

Due to COVID-19 and current restrictions, this year’s Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists AGM will be held virtually via Zoom webinar on Monday 30 November 2020 at 6.30pm.

The AGM provides each member with an opportunity to hear what the MACP has achieved in the last year and what the MACP strategy and objectives are for the coming five years.

Video: the Right Start Service for RA patients

NRAS has a new video on the benefits of the Right Start Service for patients newly or recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

New2RA Right Start is a service launched by the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) at the BSR 2019 congress and to which many rheumatology services are referring their patients. Right Start supports people newly diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis to understand their diagnosis and how it is likely to affect them. Getting the right, supportive start can help people to make adjustments to their behaviour, lifestyle and health beliefs and understand why self-management is essential, and learn how to make those important first steps to managing their disease effectively.…
