About ARMA

ARMA – the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance

The Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA) exists to improve MSK services. We are a membership organisation which brings together patient, research and healthcare professional organisations working in MSK health. Working together as an alliance we have a powerful voice to influence policy and improve standards of care across the UK

Our Vision

Our vision for musculoskeletal (MSK) health:

  • The MSK health of the population is promoted throughout life;
  • Everyone with MSK conditions receives appropriate, high quality interventions to promote their health and well-being in a timely manner.

How we work

Our strength is in cross cutting issues covering more than one condition or profession, (e.g. pathways of care, multidisciplinary working, MSK and the direction of the NHS). This is because of our ability to harness the expertise of a range of members. Our members are best able to deliver where an issue relates to a single profession or condition.

Our Membership

Our members are patient, research and healthcare professional organisations ranging from large organisations to small specialist bodies representing less common conditions or smaller professions.

Internationally

ARMA is the UK’s representative for EULAR PARE, the European Network for people with arthritis and rheumatic conditions.

Our Activities

ARMA works with its members in different ways as appropriate:

  • Signposting to relevant organisations where condition/profession specific responses are needed.
  • Linking up with the membership where collective engagement is needed.
  • Engaging directly where a single voice for the sector is required and the topic fits our remit.
  • Where groups of ARMA members want to collaborate and ARMA can help facilitate.
