Edgar Stene Prize 2022 competition

EULAR bannerThe late Edgar Stene, who had severe ankylosing spondylitis, was a great promoter of co-operation between doctors, patients and community workers. The EULAR Edgar Stene Prize Competition runs yearly in his memory and honour. First prize is EUR 1,000 and the winner will be invited to attend the EULAR Congress in 2022. Second prize is EUR 700 and third prize is EUR 300.

The prize will be awarded next year to the winning essay on the topic:

“How treating my RMD has influenced my hopes for the future”

EULAR are encouraging people to write about their personal experiences on the competition topic, answering the questions:

  • What were the biggest challenges and what motivated you along your journey?
  • What were your hopes then (in the past) and today?
  • Who accompanied you on your journey – family, doctors, and/or friends?
  • Taking the opportunity as well to express expectations, hopes and even visions into the future

The EULAR Edgar Stene Prize competition is open to people 18 years and over who are living with a rheumatic and musculoskeletal (RMD) disease.

As the UK’s national member organisation of EULAR–PARE, ARMA appoints a judging panel to decide upon the one essay we will submit on behalf of the UK.

The deadline for UK entries in the competition is 2 December 2021.

You are invited to send an entry that meets these guidelines (click to view Rules document in PDF).

Please submit your completed essay along with your name, consent form , email address and telephone number to projects@arma.uk.net by midday Thursday 2 December 2021.
