About a year ago ARMA had a vision for a conference that would bring together stakeholders from across the MSK community to think about how we can work better together to improve the lives of people living with MSK conditions. Earlier this week that vision became a reality in the form of the Working Together conference. The planning started back in January when I began to seek out people who were already doing this well. I had conversations with some amazing people doing incredible work to join up services across systems and to bring about excellent multi-disciplinary working. Guest blog: A rollercoaster year in MSK

It’s been a year since I was fortunate to attend the annual ARMA lecture at the canal museum in London and enjoyed a fantastic talk by Brendan Stubbs about physical activity and mental health. New to the role of National Clinical Director for MSK, this was the first time I met Sue Brown the CEO of ARMA, as well as number of other colleagues from the MSK world. Little did we all know at that time about what lay ahead, and the close working relationships we would develop.

What followed has been a rollercoaster of a year. The coronavirus pandemic has impacted us all both professionally and personally, and as an MSK community we must all take pride in our collective response.…

We know that many people value our newsletter, webinars and the fact that we provide a voice for MSK health. We are increasingly asked: given that our membership is made up of organisations, how can an individual support ARMA? For this reason, we have set up a new supporter scheme.
|

Support the Joint Action Christmas Appeal

It's been a year like no other, and while much of the world's attention has been focused on the disease COVID-19, the needs of people with musculoskeletal disease have not gone away and sadly in many cases the need has grown. We know that thousands of people across the UK have experienced long waits for surgery and cancellations of other medical appointments. BOA Annual Congress 2021 - save the date!

Taking place 21-24 September 2021, the BOA Annual Congress programme will be created around the theme of 'Tackling Infection', with four days of lectures including three days of exhibition being held for the first time at P&J Live, The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA). Further information regarding abstracts, programme, speakers, location and more will be on the BOA website in the upcoming months.

The PHE 'Help Us Help You' campaign
|
|
Last month, NHS England and NHS Improvement launched the ‘Help Us Help You – NHS Access’ campaign which looks to address the barriers that are deterring patients from accessing NHS services. Since then, the mental health phase of the campaign has launched, aiming to increase awareness of NHS talking therapies services (IAPT). It will encourage adults with mental health issues such as anxiety or depression to seek help…

The Health and Social Care 'flu campaign has seen incredible support across both health and social care.
