Two sides of the same coin: inequalities in healthcare

You own what you create: complexity and MSK services
by Sue Brown, CEO ARMA

ARMA is in the process of writing up the report of our inquiry into the impact of deprivation on MSK health inequalities. Of course, this is not the only factor that impacts on MSK health inequalities. Age, sex, ethnicity and a range of other factors intersect to give the highly unequal picture we see. So I was delighted to be invited to speak at a Kings Fund conference on women’s health.

MSK proved to be an excellent introduction to the day with many parallels with the rest of the agenda.

Coproduction - being an effective lived-experience partner

Webinar

Thursday, 26 October 2023
10 – 11am
  • Are you someone with lived experience of musculoskeletal conditions?
  • Would you like to know how to be involved in the design of MSK services?
cropped-ARMA-arthritis-square-3.jpg
Increasingly the NHS is realising the importance of talking to the people who use their services about how to do things better. This can be a simple survey, but can also involve focus groups or directly involving people with lived experience in decision-making meetings.

If this sounds like something you would like to do but you aren't sure how to make your voice heard, this webinar is for you.

You will hear:
  • More about the different ways people can be involved and what coproduction means.
  • What it's like to be involved and tips for making the best use of the opportunity.
  • What managers of NHS services want and why they value hearing from you.

MSK Service Improvement - Local meetings

arma_high_251_rosy-purple
ARMA has organised a series of meetings for people to discuss ways to improve MSK services in their local areas. Professionals, third sector representatives and people with lived experience of MSK are invited to come along and share thoughts and ideas.
What does each meeting aim to achieve?
  • Bring together a wide range of stakeholders with an interest in improving or transforming MSK services.
  • Share examples of improvement and transformation work happening in the region.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Identify any barriers to progress and consider ways to address these.
  • Consider the system – primary, community, secondary services and wider community aspects.
