wowd-iconWorkout @ Work Day is the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s annual awareness day, which aims to increase levels of physical activity among employees during the working day, and inspire staff to address poor work habits, such as not taking regular breaks.

This year Workout @ Work Day is taking place on Friday 6th June and will have a particular focus on encouraging better use of recreational facilities that are freely available, such as outdoor gyms and parks. Physiotherapists from across the UK will be leading local events in their communities to promote the role physiotherapy can play in improving workplace wellbeing.

Taking a lunchtime walk and having regular breaks during any working day can help you prevent back pain and stress, and boost your energy levels. You can get involved in W@WD by tweeting a supportive message and/or a picture of you exercising, with the hashtag #WorkoutAtWork.

Last year more than 300 separate events were held across the UK. You can look to an article from the CSP’s Frontline magazine if you need inspiration for this year’s event, which suggests activities ranging from brisk lunchtime walks, cycle challenges, Zumba, Tai Chi and Pilates classes, desk-based stretch sessions and health quizzes.
