The Carrots Night Walk: working for people with visual loss

PMRGCAuk has started working with Fight for Sight, a charity that supports research into eye conditions that cause blindness. They work in partnership with smaller charities like ours that represent people with illnesses that can cause vision loss. Fight for Sight have set up a fund provide matched funding for research projects into Giant Cell Arteritis. In other words, every pound we raise for this fund will be matched by them.

The Carrots Night Walk offers a great opportunity for PMRGCAuk to raise our charity’s profile, particularly concerning GCA and its possible severe visual consequences. There are two night walks taking place in London arranged for 21st September – an ‘easy one’ (6 miles) and a more challenging 15ml. one! They start at the BFI Imax, and take in some of London’s spectacular night time sights.

So far Trustees Kate and Jennifer have ‘signed up’ to do the walk, but as it costs £25 per person to register, there is funding provided for 4 more walkers. However, it is expected that each walker will raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship for PMRGCAuk matched by Fight For Sight for appropriate research.

If you prefer to sponsor us rather than take an active part, please visit our Virgin Money Giving page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/finalCharityHomepage.action?charityId=1005397 or give us a ring on 0300 999 5090 and we will add your details to a sponsorship form either for Jennifer or for Kate.

Jennifer’s form is already filling up nicely! You will see her attraction from the accompanying photo! Have you ever seen a more juicy-looking carrot? It would be fantastic if you felt you could join us to walk on that night, so do please call on 0300 999 5090 to sign up as participants. Fancy Dress is optional. You don’t have to look like a carrot!
