Congratulations to Dr Simon Otter, Senior Lecturer in Podiatry in the School of Health Professions, seen here at the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists Annual Conference having been awarded the arc Podiatry Silver Medal Prize.

Pictured with Simon are Keir Windsor (left), Education Officer for Arthritis Research Campaign (arc), and Dr Anthony Redmond (right), representing the Podiatry Rheumatic Care Association (PRCA).

This is the first time that arc has awarded a Silver Medal specific to the chiropody / podiatry profession. The award is administered on behalf of arc by The Podiatry Rheumatic Care Association (PRCA). Submissions for the prize must be relevant to the work of rheumatology / musculo-skeletal health professionals. The award consists of the arc Silver Medal and a cheque for £1000.

Simon’s work, “challenging current perceptions: an exploration of the nature and extent of foot complaints in rheumatoid arthritis”, will be presented as part of the 2010 British Society of Rheumatology / British Health Professional in Rheumatology conference along with the prize winning entries from the other Rheumatology AHP groups.

The PRCA arc Podiatry Silver Medal Prize is an annual competitive award open to applicants from within the Podiatry community and will next be promoted in autumn 2010.
