Holding onto the positive

MSK leading the way
by Sue Brown, CEO ARMA
Things feel very precarious and uncertain as everywhere in the UK takes measures to control the spread of Covid-19. With the various tiered systems, the firebreak in Wales and the four-week lockdown in England, we all know that this is going to be a difficult winter, especially for people working in the NHS and those who need healthcare.

Issued 4 October 2020: Joint statement from professionals
and patients on MSK services and COVID-19

With cases of Covid-19 rising and the prospect of increased pressure on hospitals this winter as a result, it will be unacceptable for the NHS to respond to this by treating only urgent and emergency cases in musculoskeletal (MSK) services. Many ARMA CEOs and directors from member organisations and alliances filmed vlogs.

People needing surgery such as joint replacement, people needing to see rheumatology specialists and people needing access to community MSK services were all hit hard in the effort to ensure that the NHS could respond to Covid-19 patients.…

Resources from Bone and Joint Week 12-20 October 2020

We hope you had a great Bone and Joint Week. This year saw an increase of around third in page impressions on Twitter compared to last year. The theme, Good musculoskeletal health – now more than ever, resonated with many during the pandemic. ARMA alliance members, Public Health England, NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care and NICE supported the Twitter campaign.

The week may be over (12-20 October), but the blogs and resources are still available.
In case you missed them, see:

ARMA Supporter scheme

We know that many people value our newsletter, webinars and the fact that we provide a voice for MSK health. We are increasingly asked: given that our membership is made up of organisations, how can an individual support ARMA? For this reason, we have set up a new supporter scheme.
Full details can be found on our Become an ARMA Supporter page.
